The Rockbridge Area Relief Association will participate in the 33rd annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 10. This nationwide event is the largest single-day food drive and is organized in partnership with the National Association of Letter Carriers, the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, and the U.S. Postal Service.
Postal workers from offices across Rockbridge County will collect donated canned and dry food items from local residents and deliver them to RARA, as well as Bridge to Hope in Buena Vista and the Natural Bridge/ Glasgow Food Pantry. In 2024, the drive brought in close to 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food to RARA’s Neighborhood Grocery. With food insecurity on the rise, they hope to collect even more this year.
To participate, place non-perishable food donations in a bag next to the mailbox before the usual delivery time on May 10. All contributions are welcome, but items such as marinades and sauces, canned meat, soup, cereal, and health and hygiene products are especially needed. Please avoid donating any items in glass containers.
Donations will be processed by volunteers at RARA on the day of the drive and following weeks. Visit https://givepul.se/ ehn4iw or call (540) 463-6943 to sign up to help.
