Karyn Gardner, (540) 228-2176, (540) 655-3646 [email protected] Happy May! Hope everyone had a safe and festive May Day and Cinco de Mayo weekend!

Happy 12th birthday to my fur baby, Mr. Mylo Simba Gardner. Also sending birthday wishes to John Walken and Erin Phillips, as well as to St. John’s Episcopal Church members Jim White, Tim Theileke and Andre Minor and to Faith Baptist Church members Mary Lee Rice and Charles O’Roarke. Happy anniversary to Faith Baptist members JC and Linda Rice.

At Faith Baptist Church, there will be a Ladies Circle meeting on May 12 at 10 a.m.

At St. John’s Episcopal Church this past Sunday, the Holy Eucharist service was led by the Rev. Dr. Jan Fuller. Many thanks to the Rev. Fuller for leading the service, and to Bert Buford and Josh Gardner for providing music. Thanks also to Jason Hickman for hosting coffee hour. Next Sunday will be a Liturgy of the Word service led by the Rev. Deacon Dick Willis.

St. John’s hiker dinners for the 2025 season started this past Monday, May 5. The dinners will be held every Monday evening at 6 from now until July during the peak hiking time as travelers from all over the world hike the Appalachian Trail. The dinners are free, everyone is invited to attend, and any volunteering or sponsoring to help with the dinners is always welcome and appreciated! If you’d like to volunteer at any of the dinners or sponsor a dinner, please contact Brandall Branch or Dave VanOsten for details.

My birthday is coming up later this month and each year to celebrate I run a monthlong fundraiser through Facebook to benefit various charities and local organizations. This year, I’ve chosen the Glasgow Life Saving and First Aid Crew. Our area is fortunate to have such a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers alike always ready to serve their community. All donations received through the fundraiser will be sent to them directly from Facebook upon its completion. I’ve set the goal to be raised at $200 and the fundraiser will be publicly accessible on my Facebook page until May 31. Please consider joining me in donating to the Glasgow Life Saving and First Aid Crew this year and help me reach that goal!
