Nye Sets Record In Rout

The Rockbridge County High School girls lacrosse team rolled past Cave Spring 22-4 in a regional matchup on Thursday in Roanoke.

Sophomore Anna Nye set the single-game program record with 19 draw controls to help the Wildcats (5-2) secure their fourth straight victory. RC dominated the draw circle overall, winning 25-of-30 draws in the game against the Knights (1-7).

Emma McKnight bagged six goals and Lola Mulitalo posted nine assists to pace the ’Cats’ offense, while Josie Caldwell and Ruby Goodhart tallied four goals apiece. Nine different Wildcats scored in the game, and 18 of their 22 goals were assisted.

Nadia Gaydos and Tadara Cooper each scooped up two ground balls to lead the RC defense, and Alyssa Hunter notched three saves in goal.

RC was slated to visit William Byrd last night. The Wildcats will play host to Salem on Thursday before traveling to Blacksburg next Monday, with junior varsity action scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start on both nights, and varsity action slated to follow at 7:15.
