Congratulations to high school sophomore Calvin Clark for being selected to participate in the All State Virginia Concert Band this past weekend on French horn. High school musicians from all over the state gathered in Richmond with guest conductors on Thursday through Saturday, and then performed the pieces they worked on at a concert at the Richmond Convention Center.

Thank you to Alanna Conner for singing the offertory “I’m So Happy I Have the Lord on my Side.” Thank you to the children for taking up the 4-centsa- meal offering to support the local food bank.

Carey Blakeman will be hosting a flower arranging workshop on Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at Dianne Swink’s house. In this workshop, we will kick off with a liturgy, celebrating God’s creation. The plan is to have enough flowers for everyone to make two small to medium bouquets. The first bouquet will be one you gift to someone ‒ a friend who had a tough week, a family member who helped you out this season, a co-worker who had a life change (hey new babies!), or a stranger you’ve noticed on your way to work. The second bouquet is yours to keep ‒ whether for yourself to brighten a kitchen or home office, or to give to the church for the sanctuary, or to find another friend who might need some cheering up.
We ask that you prayerfully consider donating to this ministry to offset the cost of flowers. We are attempting to purchase from local co-ops, to support our local community in our area. If you’d like to participate, please RSVP to Rachel.
Summer worship schedule begins on Sunday, May 25. Worship will be at 10 a.m., and Sunday school will take a break for the summer.
Vacation Bible school with the theme “Our Daily Bread” will be held June 2-5, 5:30-7:30. Children will get to enjoy a live cooking show with some silly chefs, while learning how God provides for all our needs! Each evening will include dinner, activities, a Scripture lesson, music, and crafts. There is no charge to participate. Children ages preschool through rising fifth grade are invited to attend, and middle school and high school aged students are invited to volunteer as helpers.
