Getting Ready For K

Getting Ready For K

An estimated 150 people turned out for the annual “A Day in K” event at Maury River Middle School last Thursday. Rising kindergarteners got the chance to meet teachers and school staff, talk with law enforcement and first responders, tour emergency vehicles and a school bus, and get lots of “free stuff.” Among the scenes were (clockwise from top) families gathering at the Mountain View Elementary table; students getting a hug from the Wildcat; Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Deputy Oliver Schriver giving tours of an armored vehicle; Central Elementary Principal Robin Parker talking to a parent; volunteer Janet Lemmer helping a child pick out a free book at the United Way booth; a child exiting a school bus as parents look on; and children coloring at the Little Beasties Art Studio booth.
