Esther Pennington, 540-291-2629 High Bridge Presbyterian Church combined the two adult Sunday school classes (for month of May only) into a new adult Sunday school class with the pastor’s wife, the Rev. Dr. Amy Willis, as a very knowledgeable teacher. She is an ordained minister and a professor at Lynchburg College.
The children’s Easter party after this Sunday service was a big success and a great time was had by all.
Attending the Peaks’ Presbytery meeting at St. Andrews Presbyterian church in Bedford were Faye Worley, Connie Powell and Carol Tolley.
Congratulations to the Virginia Military Institute rugby team for placing first in their division. They are coached by High Bridge member John McCoy and the captain of the team also attends here as a guest.
The men’s Bible study group meets today, Wednesday, April 30, at 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
The evening circle meets May 6 at 6 p.m. with Esther Pennington. Betsey Shepard will lead the lesson.
Scholarship Sunday will be observed May 18.
High Bridge is preparing for its 255th anniversary celebration at the end of September.
The food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, and close at 11 a.m. The High Bridge congregation is collecting peanut butter and jelly for the food pantry.
