Virginia Military Institute’s Office of Diversity, Opportunity, and Inclusion invites the public to celebrate International Dance Day, Tuesday, April 29, in Marshall Hall. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a complimentary Polynesian-themed dinner catered by Parkhurst Dining in the Hall of Valor. Reservations are required for the dinner and may be made by going to https:// vmi.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0obfcoWW0gzYJH8. A performance of Polynesian dance by the Southern Virginia University’s Polynesian Heritage Association dance troupe (including Tapaita Howard, pictured here) begins at 7 p.m. in Gillis Theater, followed by an outdoor fire knife presentation, weather permitting. No reservations are needed to attend the dance or knife performances. The event is free.
