A native tree and shrub giveaway will be held this Saturday, April 26, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the RARA building, 350 Spotswood Drive, Lexington.
Sponsored by the Rockbridge Area Master Gardeners and the James River Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society, trees and shrubs will be given away at no cost.
Master Gardeners will be on hand to educate the members of the community on the best tree for their personal space. Those attending will be able to ask questions of the plant clinic team, and the compost coaches will educate on the values of composting. In the Kidz Korner, activities will be provided for those children who attend with their families. Native plants will be on sale.
Prior to the giveaway, at 10:30 a.m. in the RARA Community Room, will be a Rockbridge Area Master Gardener presentation on “Growing Tomatoes” featuring Master Gardener Jill Alvarado. Varieties of tomato plants will be available for purchase after the talk.
