On Saturday, April 26, Rockbridge Bird Club ornithologist Dick Rowe will lead a road trip to bird along the Blue Ridge Parkway from the Buena Vista entrance off U.S. 60 to the Vesuvius exit at Va. 56.
Rowe scouts this route often and knows the hot spots where warblers, vireos, tanagers, grosbeaks and other returning migrants are likely to be seen and heard.
Birders will meet at the Lexington Food Lion parking lot at 7 a.m. to carpool, returning by early afternoon. Alternatively, participants may meet the group on the parkway at the pull-off just south of the Buena Vista entrance at 7:30 a.m.
Birders should bring binoculars, water and snacks. The trip will be canceled in the event of rain. For more information, contact Wendy Richards at [email protected] or (540) 319-0319.
