Retired U.S. Air Force Capt. Guy Gruters, a pilot during the Vietnam War who was a prisoner of war for five years, will present the talk, “Locked Up with God,” at St. Patrick Catholic Church’s Theology on the Town spring event.
The event will take place on Wednesday, April 30, at 7 p.m., in the lower room of Salerno’s Wood-Fired Pizza and Taphouse, 115 S. Jefferson St., Lexington.
Captain Gruters will share his experience of relentless torture and deprivation within the Communist prison camps, and how his Catholic faith led him to daily forgiveness of his torturers, saving both his life and his soul, said a spokesperson.
Sponsored by St. Patrick’s Adult Faith and Evangelization Team, with the support of Catholic Campus Ministry, this event is free, and open to the public, ages 18 and over.
