The Effinger community churches would like to thank all who helped and donated items and refreshments to the community Easter Egg Hunt held Saturday, April 19, at the pavilion on the grounds of the Collierstown Baptist Church. Special thanks to the Easter Bunny, who at the behest of the Effinger Ruritan Club, was photographed with the children. Those participating enjoyed hunting Easter eggs, making crafts, playing games and enjoying refreshments. The sponsoring community’s churches for the event were Union View Advent Christian Church, Collierstown Baptist Church, Collierstown Presbyterian Church, Collierstown United Methodist Church, Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, Oxford Presbyterian Church and Rapps Mill Church.
The Night Circle of the Collierstown Presbyterian Church will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 1, in the fellowship hall at 7 p.m. A time of fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Bible Study. All are invited to join the group in person or on Facebook Live from the church’s Facebook page at 7 p.m.
The Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s Backyard Missions Team is planning a one-day mission trip to the Appalachian Community Relief warehouse located in Black Mountain, N.C., on Saturday, May 3. Volunteers will be assisting the staff of the Appalachian Community Relief Center in unpacking, sorting and organizing donations, replenishing floor stock and assisting shoppers visiting the center. The team will be traveling as a group in a 15-passenger van. Space is available for additional volunteers. The Effinger Volunteer Fire Department has made tentative plans to hold its first barbecue chicken sale of the spring season on Saturday, May 17, beginning at noon. Chicken halves and whole dinners will be available for purchase. Food items may be purchased as carryout but some seating for indoor dining will be available. Be sure to save the date!
