RC Boys Soccer Overcomes East Rockingham In Double OT, 5-4

With a clutch performance, the Rockbridge County High School boys soccer team earned a 5-4 road win in double overtime over Valley District rival East Rockingham on Monday evening in Elkton.

It was the first Valley District win for the Wildcats (2-2-0 overall, 1-1 district) and the first victory under new head coach Jeff Tomlin. The game took place over two Mondays, after it was stopped last Monday, April 14, with ER (2-5-0, 0-4) leading 3-2 with 1:47 left in the first half.

Charlie Cosgriff led the Wildcats with two goals, while Noah Carroll, Oscar Kosky and Cooper Fox each scored once for RC.

The Wildcats will continue district action at Turner Ashby on Tuesday before playing host to Rocktown on Friday, starting with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m. on both nights.

Because our sports section is finished for this week, the story on this week’s games, with photos from the home game, will be in our April 30 newspaper.
