A Buena Vista woman has been indicted on a charge of aggravated murder in connection with the death of Carl Agnor in his home on Hawthorne Avenue last April.
A Buena Vista grand jury indicted Margaret Mary Wright, 45, on a charge of aggravated murder last week. Under Virginia State Code, a charge of aggravated murder applies to premeditated homicides commit- ted under specific circumstances, such as in connection with certain other felonies, the murder of a law enforcement officer or a murder for hire. In this case, Wright was charged with “the willful, deliberate, and premeditated killing of any person in the commission of robbery or attempted robbery.”
Aggravated murder is a Class 1 felony and carries a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, a good conduct allowance or conditional release. A hearing to advise about attorney arrangements is scheduled for Friday in Buena Vista Circuit Court.
Wright was arrested in May of 2024 and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Agnor’s death. That case is still in Buena Vista General District Court pending a review of her mental state. The next hearing is scheduled for June 5.
