High Bridge Presbyterian Church celebrated Palm Sunday this past Sunday with the children marching in waving their palms to the hymn of “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna.” The entrance hall was decorated with beautiful palms. During the children’s sermon the pastor explained about the palms and they also collected noisy can offering. During the church offertory we received one great hour of sharing mission offering. High Bridge had several visitors for worship Sunday.
Several members attended the memorial reception of Olive Whisler at the Glebe on Saturday, April 12. High Bridge received a beautiful cross stitch table cloth from Olive a few weeks ago. We will treasure this in her memory.
Men’s Bible Study is Wednesday, April 16, at the fellowship hall at 5:30 p.m.
Tomorrow, April 17, there will be a special Maundy Thursday Communion service at 7 p.m.
We will celebrate Easter Sunday on April 20 with church services at regular times. Members are invited to bring an Easter lily to decorate the sanctuary.
Small Group Bible Study will meet April 24 at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Joe Hawes will lead the Bible lesson and light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Due to a conflict in children’s schedules, our Easter egg party will be held after worship under the leadership of Donna Lotts on Sunday, April 27.
Scholarship Sunday will be observed May 18. High Bridge is preparing for its two 255th anniversary celebration at the end of September.
The food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, April 17, and close at 11 a.m. The High Bridge congregation is collecting peanut butter and jelly for the food pantry during the month of April.
The Natural Bridge Food Pantry board members will meet April 28 at Beth Horan United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. All supporting churches are asked to send their voting representatives.
