Relay For Life Planning 40th Event

Community members who would like to get involved in the upcoming 40th anniversary Relay for Life of Rockbridge County are asked to attend a planning and recruitment meeting on Thursday, April 24, at 6 p.m., at Gina’s Trattoria.

This important meeting is an opportunity for cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers and passionate supporters to come together to help shape this year’s milestone event. Attendees will learn how they can get involved – whether by joining the event leadership team, forming a fundraising team, volunteering or simply offering ideas to make this year’s relay more meaningful.

“Relay For Life began 40 years ago with one man running around a track to raise funds for cancer research,” said Robin Hartless Moore, event chair for Relay for Life of Rockbridge County. “Today, it’s a global movement, and we’re proud to be part of that legacy right here in Rockbridge County.”

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event, bringing communities together to honor survivors, remember those lost and fight back against cancer. With 40 years of progress and hope, this year’s theme will reflect both remembrance and renewed commitment to ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.

This year’s Relay for Life of Rockbridge County will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at Central Elementary School. To learn more about how to get involved, visit www.relayforlife. org/rockbridgeva or contact Moore at (540) 460-2485.
