MGCC Enrollment Registration Open

Registration is now open for enrollment at Mountain Gateway Community College for the summer and fall semesters. Summer classes begin May 27 and fall classes start Aug. 25.

MGCC offers a variety of in-demand programs designed to help students succeed in today’s competitive job market. New programs in liberal arts and medical laboratory technology, offered in partnership with Virginia Western Community College and LewisGale Hospital Alleghany, will be available this fall. In addition, MGCC continues to offer other sought-after programs in business, education, electrical, forestry, general studies, hospitality, information technology, nursing, science and welding. These programs are specifically designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in various professional fields.

Whether in-person or online, the college is committed to offering education that fits everyone’s schedule, said a spokesperson. “With small class sizes – typically 15 students per instructor – students can expect personalized attention from instructors who are dedicated to helping them succeed. The college’s affordable tuition rates make it possible for students to pursue their academic goals without financial strain.”

A major milestone for the college this fall is the opening of the Joe Wilson Workforce Center in Buena Vista, a cuttingedge facility that will greatly enhance the college’s capacity for workforce training. This new center will increase MGCC’s ability to deliver hands-on training by 200 percent and is expected to boost enrollment in career and technical programs by at least 120 percent. The Wilson Workforce Development Center will offer expanded lab and classroom spaces for a variety of programs, including welding, precision machining, industrial technology, building trades, diesel mechanics, CDL, electrical, plumbing and more. This development will allow MGCC to provide even more opportunities for students to gain the practical skills needed for high-demand careers.
