Michael Pursley took this photo of a bald eagle he spotted in the southwestern area of the county recently. “I was driving down South Buffalo in the Rapps Mill area and I came upon a group of buzzards in the road,” he explained. “About 30 feet from them, they took flight and one bird amongst them lit on a fence post by the road. They had been eating on a dead possum. This one bird happened to be a bald eagle. It remained perched on the post for about two minutes as I snapped off about 8-10 photos of it, slowly moving toward it to pass by in my car. As I approached the eagle, not even 15 feet directly across from it, it let me snap some real nice close-up pictures … before it flew off to the trees by the creek.” This is one of those photos.
