Many thanks to all who participated in the community’s roadside clean-up sponsored by the Effinger Ruritan Club. A rea residents are encouraged to continue the club’s efforts picking up trash and by cleaning the roadways around property lines, churches and other locations.

A large crowd attended the Sunday afternoon concert at Collierstown Methodist Church performed by The Crestmen, a Southern Gospel group based in Staunton. The Ladies of Mercy, a local gospel trio, were also on hand and joined The Crestmen for several songs.

The Night Circle of the Collierstown Presbyterian Church will hold its monthly meeting tomorrow, Thursday, April 3, in the fellowship hall at 7 p.m. A time of fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Bible study. All are invited to join the group in person or on Facebook Live from the church’s Facebook page at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. there will be a celebration of life service for former Collierstown resident Janette Coleman at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. John R. “Skip” Hastings. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.

The Collierstown United Methodist Women in Faith will be making and selling peanut butter and coconut cream Easter eggs. The cost of each six-ounce egg is $6. Orders can be placed by calling the church at (540) 463-7717 or (540) 463-3408 or by contacting any church member.

The Collierstown United Methodist Charge will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. on April 17 at the Collierstown church. An Easter sunrise service will be held at the Seclusion at 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 20, followed by breakfast at the Collierstown United Methodist Church at 8. The Easter worship service will be held in the sanctuary of the Collierstown Church at 9.

The Effinger Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 19, at the pavilion on the grounds of the Collierstown Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until noon. The Effinger Ruritan Club has asked the Easter Bunny to be on hand to meet and be photographed with the children in attendance. Families are invited to bring their children to enjoy hunting Easter eggs and other activities. The sponsoring community’s churches for the event are Union View Advent Christian Church, Collierstown Baptist Church, Collierstown Presbyterian Church, Collierstown United Methodist Church, Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, Oxford Presbyterian Church and the Rapps Mill Church.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Church will hold a 6:30 a.m. Sunrise worship service on April 20 on top of the Cemetery Hill. Following the service there will be a traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, fruit and pastries in the church’s fellowship hall for all to enjoy. Church members and community residents are invited to come and celebrate resurrection joy and fellowship. At 11 a.m. the congregation will hold its Easter worship service in the church sanctuary.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s Cemetery Committee wants to remind families and friends of loved ones buried in the church cemetery that artificial flower arrangements, decorations, and other items need to be removed from grave sites to facilitate mowing of the cemetery grounds. Items remaining on the graves or ground surrounding the tombstones that are not secured to the tombstones will be removed by Cemetery Committee personnel.
