PM’s Cook All-State

Following an impressive season, Parry McCluer High School sophomore Langston Cook was named to the Virginia High School League Class 1 all-state first team last week.

Cook, a 6-foot guard who was also the Pioneer District player of the year and a Virginia High School League all-region first team selection this season, led the Fighting Blues in scoring this season, averaging 24 points per game. He pulled down 8.3 rebounds per game and averaged 5.7 assists per game, 2.3 steals and 1.2 blocks.

Guided by third-year head coach Tyler Kerr, the Blues went 20-6 overall and won the Pioneer District regular-season and tournament titles, going undefeated in the district. In the Region 1C tournament, they were runners-up to George Wythe, which went on to win the Class 1 state title. PM ended its season with an 84-60 loss to Patrick Henry-Glade Springs in the Class 1 state quarterfinals.
