Delegate’s Statements Made Wins’ Issue Political

March 17, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: I read with interest your editorials and reporting on General Wins contract renewal which recently was denied. I agree that the decision was indeed political and racist. However, it wasn’t the appointments of Governor Youngkin’s board of visitors, but rather Sen. Jennifer Carroll Foy’s “threat” of saying, “board appointments and budget amendments are in peril” if they did not extend Wins four-year contract.

Del. Carroll Foy also made it racist when she said, “Cedric is African American” and the General Assembly leadership is African American.

So, yes, this may be a political and racist decision, but not from the conservatives’ point of view. JAN LOWRY Lexington
