Kings, Queens, Rhinoceroses On W&L Stage

Washington and Lee University students from French 332 will be performing selections of scenes from four French modern plays from the theater of the absurd movement March 27-28 at 7:30 p.m. in Lenfest Center’s Johnson Theater.

Featured are Alfred Jarry’s “King Ubu” (“Ubu Roi”), as well as Eugene Ionesco’s “Jacques and the Submission” (“Jacques ou la soumission”), “The Future Is in the Eggs” (“L’avenir est dans les oeufs”) and the renowned “Rhinoceros.”

The selections are directed by professor Domnica Radulescu and performed by Weyimi Agbeyegbe, Margaret Cover, Aisy Franciscovich, Lowell Fenstermacher, Sandor Franch, Lydie Kipawa, Caroline Linen, Chuck Rutberg and Eli Staubi. The show, performed in French with projected English subtitles, is offered free of charge and is open to the public.
