A recital entitled “Universal Journey Through Song” will be offered on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 8 p.m. in Wilson Concert Hall in the Lenfest Center. Tickets are not required.
Rockbridge Area Community Services recently filled three key leadership positions within the agency. In November, Michel Mathis was hired as chief financial officer/ director of administration; in December, Greg Hornback was hired as director of clinical services; and in January, Samantha Hoke was promoted to director of community based behavioral health and prevention services.
Two current Washington and Lee University leaders and a construction supervisor for Rockbridge Area Habitat were among the five honorary initiates of Alpha Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society, at W&L’s annual Founders Day/ODK Convocation on Jan. 21.
A one-day course for food industry employees to earn the ServSafe certification for food safety will be held Monday, March 23, in Room 502, Mc- Carthy Hall, on the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Clifton Forge campus, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The instructor is DSLCC culinary arts program head Ed McArdle.
This past Sunday was “Souper Bowl” at High Bridge Presbyterian Church, and we almost reached our goal of collecting 500 pounds of canned soup and other food items for the Natural Bridge-Glasgow Food Pantry. We thank all who donated. Sam Vest did fill two-wheel barrows with one extra to spare!
The Collierstown Presbyterian Women would like to thank the community and congregation for the additional funding received during the past week for its annual blanket initiative. A total of $1271 was given to make possible the purchase of 127 blankets for distribution by Church World Service in the United States and around the world.
