The Community Foundation for Rockbridge, Bath and Alleghany has announced the establishment of the Halestone Foundation Fund to benefit Halestone Dance Studio. Halestone Dance Studio has been “a community in motion” for 45 years. It was founded by Carole Winder in 1978 on Randolph Street in downtown Lexington. Winder ran the studio until 1996, when Nancy Saylor became director. Both Winder and Saylor established Halestone as a moving arts community for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to experience dance and the artistic process. After many transitions and testing times, The Halestone Foundation, a nonprofit organization, was founded in 2016 to manage the daily operations of the Halestone Dance Studio.
