Robin Denise Fitzgerald- Floyd, 57, of Buena Vista died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.Born March 14, 1962, in Lexington, she was a daughter of Willie Hansford Fitzgerald and the late Ruby Estelle Shaw Fitzgerald.

Anne Entsminger Caldwell, age 79, formerly of Clifton Forge and Roanoke, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at Richfield Recovery and Care in Salem.She was born April 22, 1940, in Clifton Forge to the late Joseph Albert and Corinne Vise Entsminger. She was a clerk for CSX Transportation and a member of First Christian Church D.O.C. of Clifton Forge.

Mary Elizbeth Conner Mutispaugh, 84, died Jan. 5, 2020, in Duluth, near Atlanta, after a brief illness.Mary was born on July 11, 1935, in Rockbridge County to James Erby Conner and Dorothy Virginia Johns. Her mother was a proud member of the Monacan Indian Nation and a direct descendent of both Mallory Johns and William Evans, both of whom helped to found the Bear Mountain Settlement.

JOHN BOLEN

John Robert Bolen, 53, of Bustleburg died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at Augusta Medical Center.Born April 12, 1966, John suffered his stroke on Jan. 5, 2017, three years and two days ago. He fought hard, made tremendous progress, never gave up, but the obstacles were too great to overcome. With all the struggles, it seems appropriate that he passed away peacefully on a quiet, beautiful, snowy morning.

Patricia DeMaris Land Harvey passed away on Jan. 11, 2020, after a long and courageous battle against the ravages of Alzheimer’s disease.Patricia was born March 1, 1928, in Arlington. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh, her parents, Spencer and Gertrude Land, and two siblings, Elizabeth “Libby”, and Eustace “Eutie.”

Emory “Red” Wilson Bowyer Jr., 90 of Lexington, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital.He was born June 3, 1929, in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Emory Wilson Bowyer Sr. and Carrie Mc- Guffin Bowyer.

ED SPENCER

Edgar Winston Spencer, professor of geology emeritus at Washington and Lee University, died peacefully at his home on Poorhouse Mountain on Jan. 8, 2020. He was 88 years old.A native of Monticello, Ark., he grew up the second son of Terrel and Allie Belle Spencer with his brother, Terrel Jr. His days in Monticello were happy ones, spent amid family and friends, often visiting his grandfather’s farm, camping and exploring as a member of an avid Boy Scout troop and eventually becoming an Eagle Scout, learning photography, and getting into mischief with his friends.
