Friday, Oct. 25 – The Rockbridge County High School football team earned a 28-0 win at Broadway in Valley District action on Friday night.

The Wildcats (6-2 overall, 2-1 district) stormed to a 21-0 halftime lead, with Bret McClung running for two touchdowns and Miller Jay making a 9-yard touchdown pass to Jailik Lynch. After a scoreless third quarter, with light rain falling, Jay made a 14-yard TD pass to Luke Mayr for the final touchdown of the game with 4:48 left. RC kicker Daniel Cunningham made all four of his extra point attempts.

The Gobblers (0-8, 0-3) got into Wildcat territory in the final minute of the game, but Treyce McCormick intercepted Broadway quarterback Landen Stuhlmiller, and the Wildcats took a knee on their next play to end the game.

With the win, RC captured its shutout victory of the season. In their season opener on Aug. 30 in Buena Vista, the Wildcats cruised to a 62-0 win over Parry McCluer.

The Wildcats will continue district action when they take on Harrisonburg (5-3, 3-0) at James Madison University's Bridgeforth Stadium in the second game of the Shenandoah Valley Football Classic on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1:30 p.m.
