Friday, Sept. 13 – The Rockbridge County High School football team cruised to a 48-7 win on Friday night at Alleghany. Quarterback Miller Jay threw three touchdown passes, Gage Shafer ran for two scores, and the Wildcats' defense scored two TDs.

The first TD for the Wildcats (2-1) came on a fumble recovery in the end zone by Shafer, sprinting in to recover Alleghany’s mishandled ball on fourth-and-16, less than two minutes into the game. Lineman David Allio scored the Wildcats’ other defensive TD by recovering a fumble and running the ball in from the 33-yard line early in the fourth quarter.

Wildcats making one TD reception each were Luke Mayr, Jailik Lynch and Seamus Looney.

The lone TD for Alleghany (1-2) came with 1:16 left in the game, when the Wildcats were playing their reserves, as Brian Broughman made a 25-yard TD pass to Dylan Nicely.

The Wildcats will continue nondistrict action next Friday when they play host to Christiansburg at 7 p.m.
