Nov. 7 - Shane Watts was elected mayor of Glasgow on Tuesday. Watts, who received the most votes in a four-way race for Town Council, also got the most write-in votes for mayor. There were no names on the ballot for mayor. The incumbent, Ruby Clark, chose not to seek reelection.

Canvassing of the votes by election officials Wednesday revealed that Watts received 171 of the 259 write-in votes cast for mayor. The second-leading vote-getter was Lynda Miller with 46.

Watts has accepted the position of mayor so it will be up to Town Council to appoint someone to take what would have been Watts's regular seat on Council.

Kathy Burant was elected with write-in votes to the Natural Bridge seat on the Rockbridge County School Board. Of the 369 votes cast, Burant received 294.

John Knox and Lawrence Hurd were the top vote-getters for Lexington's two seats on the Natural Bridge Soil and Water Conservation District Board. There were 382 write-in votes cast in this race. Knox received more than 80 votes and Hurd a little less than 80.
