VMI Hoops Games Postponed

The Southern Conference postponed both of Virginia Military Institute’s men’s basketball games that were scheduled to take place last week due to positive COVID-19 tests.

The Keydets were scheduled to play at East Tennessee State University last Wednesday, but that game was postponed due to positive COVID-19 testing and quarantine requirements within ETSU’s program.

On Friday, VMI and the SoCon announced that VMI’s game at Furman, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, was postponed due to positive COVID-19 testing and quarantine requirements within VMI’s program.

VMI sports information director Wade Branner said on Sunday that VMI chose not to elaborate on what was posted on the SoCon and VMI websites.

The Keydets (6-5 overall, 1-1 SoCon) are scheduled to have their next three games at home at Cameron Hall, against Wofford tonight at 7, against The Citadel on Saturday at 1 p.m., and against Furman next Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. All three games are against SoCon rivals.
