Teresa Kay Martin Diaz, 63, of Lexington died Sept. 10

Teresa Kay Martin Diaz, 63, of Lexington died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem.

Born Feb. 11, 1956, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital, she was a daughter of the late Emory Homer Martin Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Smith Martin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Martha Seejus "Ottie" Martin Conner, Emory Homer Martin Jr. "Buzzy," Gayle Lee Martin, Helen Elizabeth Slough and Brenda Jean Martin.

Teresa attended Grace Presbyterian Church in earlier years and was employed at Stop In Food Stores, Cool Springs Organic Market and off and on for 20 years at VMI. Teresa was an avid Redskins fan.

She left behind to live out her legacy two precious daughters, Katrina Kay Martin Ruley and Amanda Gail Ford, both of Lexington; grandchildren, Hunter Lee Ruley, Jacob Blake Ford, Kaydence Nevaeh Freeman and Joseph Lee Reed Jr., all of Lexington; siblings, Timmy Martin of Lexington, Ronnie Martin and Denise Harrison, both of Buena Vista; and her three animals she adored, Shaggy, Baby and Puss. Also surviving are two special nephews, Derrick Martin and Ronnie Martin Jr.; special niece, Dawn Martin; and her special sister, Mary Lewis, and special friend, Mark Riley.  Teresa was a very special person to many people.  Those who came in contact with her adored her.  

A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Luther Witt officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Harrison Funeral Home.
