Sophie Jean Fainter Camden, 83, of Buena Vista died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at her home.

Sophie Jean Fainter Camden, 83, of Buena Vista passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at her home.

She was born April 7, 1939, in Natural Bridge Station, a daughter of the late Alexander Haden Fainter and Mary Smith Fainter.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth (Buck) Roy Camden Sr.; her daughter, Charlotte Lynn Camden; brothers, Haden G. Fainter, Harlan G. Fainter, Dewey M. Fainter; and sisters, Mary F. Vines, Doris F. Stark and Catherine (Kate) F. Renz.

Sophie was a graduate of Natural Bridge High School. In addition to a long career of working at several local banks, she retired from ADS.

The family would like to thank Carilion Home Health nurses for the care they gave Sophie and also Rockbridge Area Hospice.

Surviving are her son, Kenneth “Ken” Roy Camden Jr.; and loving caregivers, grandson Kenneth Jason Camden and his wife Kim Camden; sisters, Caroline F. Claytor (Rex) and Joyce F. Hambrick; brother-in-law, Glen Stark; sister-in-law, Jean Fainter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Sophie's request no services are planned at this time.
