Second Museum Week Next Week

Lee Chapel Also Plans Poinsettia Family Event

Lexington art and history museums, including Washington and Lee University’s museums, will host their second-annual Lexington Museum Week from Dec. 1 through Dec. 7.

Lexington Museum Week provides visitors with “adventure cards” that list the participating museums and provide a map of the sites, along with a special sale at each site’s shop (if the card is presented upon purchase). The museums and sites involved include Stonewall Jackson House, Rockbridge Historical Society, Lee Chapel and Museum at W&L, Reeves Museum of Ceramics at W&L, Watson Galleries at W&L, Virginia Military Institute Museum, the George C. Marshall Museum and the Miller’s House Museum. Adventure cards will be available at each site on Dec. 1.

No shop purchase is required to receive credit for visiting each site – they are just an extra perk of participation.

By visiting at least one of the sites and turning in the card at the end of the adventure, visitors will receive an entry into the grand prize drawing. Visit more than one location and get extra entries. The grand prize drawing will take place on Dec. 9.

Poinsettias at The Chapel

During Lexington Museum Week, W&L’s Lee Chapel and Museum will present Poinsettias at the Chapel on Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During the event, visitors can enjoy a free art-and-history tour among the chapel’s poinsettias. Families with children can participate in the P-O-I-N-S-E-T-TI-A museum activity and make their very own poinsettia ornaments to take home.
