Saturday Morning Tennis Returns

The Rockbridge Tennis Association has resumed Saturday morning tennis, following the lifting of coronavirus restrictions by Gov. Ralph Northam last week.

After the agreement of Natalie Garvis and the Lexington Golf and Country Club Board of Directors, tennis resumed on Saturday and will continue each Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Lexington Golf and Country Club courts. The RTA Board of

Directors encourages members to socially distance as much as possible and to minimize touching the ball. The RTA suggests that each mark their balls so he/she is the only one that touches them. The country club courts are the only ones available, so non-members will need to play $5 per day.

With only four courts at the country club, players may have to wait their turn. The RTA asks that each foursome limits their play to 90 minutes so others can play. Everyone is welcome to eat and drink in the country club’s Tri-Brook Grill before or after tennis. The golf pro shop also sells water and other drinks. The Southern Virginia University athletic director will let the RTA know when the public can play on SVU’s courts.
