Rockbridge County School Board Approves Staggered Return Plan

Harrison M. Branham

FRIDAY-- At a special-called virtual meeting this morning, the Rockbridge County School Board approved a staggered hybrid plan for the return of in-person instruction to begin Nov. 10.

The approved staggered hybrid model calls for Pre-K, Kindergarten and first grade to continue learning in-person four days per week and virtually on Fridays.

Grades 2, 3, 6 and 9 will return to in-person learning at the start of the second 9 weeks on Nov. 10. With community health data permitting, the remaining grade levels will return Nov. 30.

The returning students will attend on a hybrid schedule of in-person and virtual learning, following an "AABBV" pattern. Student groups will attend either Monday and Tuesday as "AA" or Wednesday and Thursday as "BB", with virtual instruction on Fridays.

As part of the plan, a 100 percent virtual option will remain for all students' families.

More information about the Rockbridge County Public Schools staggered hybrid return plan will soon be available to students and families.
