The Rockbridge County School Board approved major changes tonight to the division reopening plan.

Instruction for county students will now begin Tuesday, Sept. 8, under a digital attendance model. Students grades 2 through 12 will learn 100 percent virtually for the first nine weeks.

Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade students will attend in-person learning four days per week, breaking on Wednesdays for building sanitation. Families of this age group of students will also have the option to learn 100 percent virtually.

Information regarding technology and instruction is forthcoming from individual Rockbridge County schools. A virtual town hall meeting will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. for administration to answer questions from teachers and parents. More information about the reopening plans will be made available on the RCPS website.
