Rockbridge Chorus Beginning Rehearsals

The Rockbridge Chorus, William McCorkle, director, will begin rehearsals for its 2019-2020 season on Monday, Sept. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at Lexington Presbyterian Church. Rehearsals will continue on Monday evenings at 7:30 at Lexington Presbyterian.

At the Sept. 9 rehearsal, the chorus will begin work on its holiday concert, to be given on Dec. 7 with the Rockbridge Youth Chorale at Lexington Presbyterian Church, featuring carols and holiday songs from many lands.

As the year progresses, rehearsals will include preparation for two other performances: two short Christmas masterworks, “Hodie” by Ralph Vaughan Williams and “Oratorio de Noël” by Camille Saint-Saëns, to be performed on Jan. 12; and a “Spring Pops” concert to be offered on Saturday, April 18, with guest soloists and instrumentalists featuring pianist Josh Harvey.

All interested singers are invited to attend the Sept. 9 rehearsal. There is a membership fee and a small music fee, but scholarship assistance is available. Anyone wishing more information, or any singer planning to sing but unable to attend the opening (Sept. 11) rehearsal, is asked to call Sandy Nye at 460-1330.

The Rockbridge Chorus is a part of the Rockbridge Choral Society, which is supported by donations from area individuals, businesses, and organizations.
