RCHS Student Tests Positive For Virus

Sept. 16 - Rockbridge County Public Schools announced today that a student who attends Rockbridge County High School has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

RCPS is working closely with the Virginia Health Department and it is believed that no other students or staff members are considered to be a close contact with the student. As a result, no additional students or staff members will be required to quarantine. The classrooms and any other areas that were occupied by the student will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized today prior to the return of students and staff on Thursday, Sept. 17.

Although there was no reportable exposure to other students or staff while in school, parents should continue to monitor their own health and the health of their families for COVID-19 symptoms, according to the statement from the school system.

While grades 2-12 are going virtual in the county school system this first nine weeks, special populations (special education students and English Language Learners students) can attend schools with the parents’ permission.
