The Rockbridge County High School volleyball team won its second consecutive Valley District regular-season championship by earning a 3-0 road win over Harrisonburg on Tuesday of last week.

The Wildcats (22-4), who have won the district and Region 3C tournament titles for the last two years, finished 10-0 in the district this season to earn the top seed in the tournament.

RC overcame a late test by the Blues Streaks (5-15, 1-9) in the regular-season finale, but the Wildcats pulled through for a 25-13, 25-20, 25-23 win to complete a sweep of the regular-season series.

Jaydyn Clemmer led the Wildcats with nine kills and four aces and added eight digs. Also stepping up for RC were McKenzie Hines with 15 digs and Krissy Whitesell with 24 assists and nine digs.

The Wildcats were scheduled to play host to fourth-seeded Harrisonburg on Monday in the district semifinals, and the championship match was scheduled for last night. For tournament updates, visit www.thenews-gazette.com.
