RC Boys Laxers Win Season Opener Over Blacksburg, 16-3

Thursday, April 29 – The Rockbridge County High School boys lacrosse team opened its season with a 16-3 win over Blacksburg on Thursday in Lexington.

On a warm and windy evening, Pierson Hull led the Wildcats with seven goals, while Griff Ray and Aiden Mason-Velasquez each scored three goals. Ray dished out five assists, Cody Faust added three assists, and Mason-Velasquez had two assists. Blake Darmante led the Wildcats with eight ground balls.

RC goalie Kaden Hall made six saves, while Blacksburg goalie Andrew Guynn had 10 saves.

The teams were playing for the first time in nearly two years since last spring’s season was canceled due to COVID-19.

The Wildcats will return to action next Thursday when they play at Franklin County at 7:15 p.m.
