PM Wrestlers Fall To Covington On Senior Night

Wednesday, Jan. 22 – In its final home competition of the season, the Parry McCluer High School wrestling team lost to Pioneer District rival Covington 45-30 in a dual meet on Wednesday night in Buena Vista.

Before the dual, the Fighting Blues honored their three seniors: Tyler Royer, Nick Craft and Trent Fitzgerald. At 106-pounds, Royer pinned Bradley Pitts in 4:31, Craft won by forfeit at 138, and Fitzgerald lost to Kent Bullock in a 5-2 decision.

Also winning for the Blues was Matthew Mears (145), pinning Elijah Long in 2:11, while Jeremiah Fulwider (182) won by forfeit.

The Blues lost some points due to forfeits in several weight classes.

Before the varsity action got underway, PM’s middle school wrestlers had an impressive showing.

The Blues will return to action when they travel to Waynesboro for a tournament on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
