PM Drops Pioneer Volleyball Opener To Bath

Thursday, Sept. 12 -- Bath County defeated Parry McCluer High School 3-1 in a Pioneer District volleyball match in Buena Vista.

Selena Wolfe produced 29 kills to lead the Chargers (2-3, 2-0 Pioneer) to a 26-24, 20-25, 25-16, 28-26 victory. Chloe Persinger posted a double-double for the Fighting Blues (0-7, 0-1), totaling 18 kills and 13 aces, but it wasn't quite enough as PM fell in a tight four-setter.

The Blues led 24-20 late in the fourth set, but Bath rallied and ultimately won on an Emily Douglas kill in extras. Wolfe also had five kills during the Chargers' match-clinching 8-2 run.

Douglas finished with 14 kills, while Persephane Woods notched 29 assists and four aces for Bath.

Kennedi Burton posted three blocks for PM, and Grayson Shields added seven assists and three kills.

The Blues will visit James River on Monday, starting with the junior varsity match at 5:30 p.m.
