PM Drops Eighth Straight Match

Craig County defeated Parry McCluer High School 3-0 in a Pioneer District volleyball match in New Castle on Tuesday of last week.

Nicole Austin posted 10 kills and a pair of blocks to lead the Rockets to a 25-21, 25-12, 25-19 victory. Jaci McAlwee notched 11 kills for Craig, while Haleigh Smith tallied nine kills and seven service aces and Kaylee Stroop amassed 33 assists.

Kennedi Burton paced the Fighting Blues with five kills, four blocks and one ace. Chloe Persinger recorded four kills, two aces and two digs for PM, and Jordan Dawson chipped in four kills, two blocks and an ace.

The loss was PM’s eighth straight setback, dropping the Blues to 2-8 in district play and 2-16 overall.

“The Blues played well but came up short,” PM head coach Shannon Stiltner said. “We are starting to come together and finding our edge. I hope we keep improving into the playoffs.”

PM will wrap up the regular season at home with its senior night match against Eastern Montgomery on Thursday, starting with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m. Before the match, the Blues will honor their four seniors.
