PM Boys Rout Chatham

The Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team routed Chatham 59-32 at the Rock the Ribbon Roundball Shootout on Saturday afternoon.

The Fighting Blues (7-3) got off to a fast start, leading 13-2 after the first quarter and 35-7 at halftime. Chatham picked up its offense in the second half, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

PM head coach Mike Cartolaro noted that neither team had much time to get ready for the game since they played the night before, with the Blues coming off an 83-32 home win over Craig County and Chatham falling 63-34 at Nelson County. “Nobody really has a chance to prepare much, but we did know they’re very athletic,” Cartolaro said. “We were just trying to keep them out of the lane. That was the biggest thing early on. I felt like they would guard us in man. We run our motion game and pick and choose when we go into post.”
