PM’s Prom At Park This Year

Parry McCluer High School is taking prom outside to promote COVID safety this year.

The PMHS prom will take place outdoors this Saturday, May 1, at Glen Maury Park’s multipurpose pavilion. The theme for 2021 is “Roaring 20s on the Maury.”

“We combined the prom and the afterprom party into one event, so there will be more activities to experience than just dancing!” Principal Melissa Cobb said Tuesday. Boxed meals will also be available to students.

“Names will be drawn every 30 minutes for students to come and spin the wheel for prizes,” Cobb said.

Masks will be required at the event and social distancing is to be observed among students. Cobb said multiple sanitation stations will be available for guests and PMHS staff will rotate every hour to chaperone the event and ensure all COVID-19 protocols are being observed.

Rockbridge County High is also planning a prom alternative in next month to adhere to COVID-19 restrictions.
