The Rockbridge Area YMCA has opened a new exhibition at its College Square Y Art Gallery. Titled “Voices,” the display showcases four photographers, each with a distinctive artistic voice.

Featured are Chuck Almarez, Fran Fevrier, Patrick Hinely and Jeremy Leadbetter. A reception to meet the photographers, open to the public, will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Y.

Almarez, who currently teaches digital photography at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, creates photos that “attempt to make a viewer think about what they’re seeing, and to question the story behind the image.”

Fevrier is a portrait photographer. She strives to uncover images which suggest that “inside their outside visual portraits live very interesting, unique, and attractive people.”

Hinely has exhibited extensively nationally and internationally and is a staff photographer for the Rockbridge Advocate.

Leadbetter, former owner of Lexington’s André Studio for seven years, has been a professional photographer for the last 31 years.

“Voices” is the second exhibit at the Y Art Gallery. The display changes every six months to feature a new group of four artists.
