Peggy Lawson Vass, 83, of Glasgow died Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab Center.

Born Dec. 10, 1935, in Forsyth County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Coy Lawson and Minnie Davis Lawson.

Peggy was an oncology nurse  at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C., from 1955 to 1977.  She was also employed at Kings Daughter's Hospital and Augusta Medical Center as a pharmacy technician from 1979 until her retirement in 1998.

Peggy was a member of Lexington Foursquare Gospel Church and loved her church family and her Lord.  Peggy's passion in life was her family.  She loved family gatherings and holidays with family more than anything.

Surviving are her children, Michael W. Vass (Missy) of Lynchburg and Kimberly V. Claytor (Bill) of Glasgow; brother, Eugene Lawson (Marsha); grandchildren, Ashlyn Myers and Jason Myers (Justynn); and great grandchildren, Laura Rowe, Zachary Myers, Ryan Myers and Katelyn Grace Myers. Peggy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and her beloved feline companion, Jackson.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Pastor Hunter Phillips.  Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Friends may gather with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Harrison Funeral Home.
