Passport Applications Now Accepted At Regional Library

The Rockbridge Regional Library in Lexington is a “passport acceptance facility,” the library announced last week.

U.S. citizens planning international travel may apply for passports at the library and can call 463-4324 to schedule an appointment.

“We are very pleased to offer this service to the community especially during evenings and weekends,” said Julie Goyette, library director. “It is much more convenient for working people.”

Before the library began accepting passport applications, the closest facilities were in Buena Vista, Amherst and Botetourt and each of the three stops taking applications before 5 p.m., she noted. In Buena Vista, the office of the clerk of the circuit court is a passport acceptance facility, with the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Passport forms, passport fees, information on how to apply and more can be found on the Department of State’s official website for passport and travel information at travel.state.gov.

The Lexington branch of Rockbridge Regional Library System is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
