Thursday, Oct. 3 -- Narrows survived an upset scare from Parry McCluer High School, claiming a 3-2 victory in a Pioneer District volleyball match in Buena Vista.

The Green Wave (7-6, 5-2 Pioneer) outlasted the Fighting Blues (2-13, 2-5) for a 25-16, 24-26, 25-16, 24-26, 15-10 win. Halee Kast's double-double of 16 kills and 18 assists paced Narrows, while Emma Spencer notched 16 kills and four service aces. Cristin Blaker totaled 27 assists, Kennah Spencer added nine kills, and Audrey Riddle finished with a match-high six aces for the Green Wave.

Chloe Persinger led the Blues with 14 kills and three aces. Jordan Dawson notched eight kills and one block, while Haley Coleman and Grayson Shields each tallied eight assists. Kennedi Burton recorded four kills for PM, and Shana Carter chipped in three kills and two aces.

The Blues return to the court at Bath County on Tuesday, beginning with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m.
