Marlbrook Concert Dedicated To Alexander

The Department of Music at Washington and Lee will present the Marlbrook Chamber Players at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, in Wilson Concert Hall.

No tickets are required for this concert, which is dedicated to the memory of Dymphna Alexander, who was the administrative assistant of the music department from 1988 to 2013 and died on Oct. 2.

The performers include Jaime McArdle, violinist, Julia Goudimova, cellist, and Timothy Gaylard, pianist; they are all members of the music faculty and knew Alexander when she was in the department.

The program, entitled “Russia vs. Austria: Late Romanticism towards Modernism,” will feature two works — the Piano Trio in D minor (1894) by Anton Arensky, written in memory of his friend and mentor Karl Davydov, and Verklärte Nacht/ Transfigured Night (1899) by Arnold Schoenberg.
