Marlaina Leigh Agnor Burnett of Lexington, born July 5, 1989, at 33 years old succumbed to her battle with colon cancer on Aug. 17, 2022, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin Burnett; her daughter, Mariyah Burnett; her canine babies, Bella and Maggie; her parents, Ronnie and Wanda Agnor; her in-laws, Robbie and Linda Burnett; brother-in-law Jason Burnett and wife Callie Burnett and their children, Robert, Liam and Eliza; and many Agnor and Sanderson relatives.

In addition, she is also survived by her Kendal at Lexington work family, along with many residents and their families.

Marlaina was loved by many, including special friends Jan Bigelow, Meagan Whorely, Katie Hickman, Nina Green, Bre Fitzgerald, Miranda Hall, Katelynn Swartz, Colleen Clark, Katelyn Hodges, Brandi Hostetter, Will Moore, Al Bowyer and wife and Blair Nicely.

Marlaina was a special and caring person with a calling to help others. She strived to always go above and beyond for others and never ceased to amaze those around her. She always remained humble and kind, which she was taught at an early age. She always had a distinguished presence and was never afraid to face her challenges. Her awesome red hair with her peppered freckles from head to toe and that beautiful smile that lit up the room will be remembered by all that knew her.

She was taken from us way too soon, but she left us with so many memories, taught us so very much and left behind a journey not yet finished. May we laugh, cry, and hurt, but remember her voice telling us we must continue on with our journey and help finish her journey by carrying forward the examples she taught us. Thank you, Marlaina, for showing us the way to unite and make positive impacts.

Her services were held at Bolling, Grose & Lotts with a Celebration of Life gathering on Aug. 19, and with a funeral service at the chapel, conducted by Pastor Dean Staton. Burial followed at Green Hill Cemetery on Aug.

Gone but never forgotten and loved in life and to eternity.

As her Mom told her every single day of her life … I love you to the Moon and Back!

May we all join together in the fight against all forms of cancer.

Her family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the following heathcare providers: Dr. Kelly, Dr. Luyimbazi, Dr. Nickerson, Dr. Mallidi, Kristen Auckland, FNP, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (Critical Care and Palliative Care Units), and Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital (Medical, ICU, and ED) Arrangements were handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation
