Margaret Mabe, 82, of Natural Bridge Station died Feb. 8

Margaret Ann Sparger Mabe, 82, of Natural Bridge Station died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at her home.

Born Feb. 18, 1937, in Bristol, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Herman L. Sparger and Edna Catherine Cutshaw.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Mabe.

Margaret was a member of the High Bridge Presbyterian Church. She was employed with Rockbridge County Public Schools from July 1965 to June 1995 and retired with 30 years of service.  Margaret taught in Tennessee, Florida, Glasgow Elementary School and Natural Bridge Elementary School.

Margaret enjoyed sharing her love of crafting with students, was a fabulous cook, adored her pets Dooley and Marla, was an enthusiastic UT fan, and enjoyed her trips to the beach where she flew kites.

Surviving are her children, Kathy A. Mabe and Otis S. Mabe, with life partner Amanda L. Reynolds; and a close friend of Margaret, Alice Waddell.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jason Grimes officiating. Family will receive friends one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the SPCA, 10 Animal Place, Lexington, VA 24450.
